Stroessner's genocide: "The Paraguayan Episcopal Conference, in a press communiqué on 29 June 1972, explains the high death figure by the fact that the new captives were brought to the Reservation in April, when an influenza epidemic was already raging there. Taking a large number of forest Indians there at this time, without providing for their health requirements, was indirect mass murder."
